COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Eastern Illinois women's soccer team could not hold off the Tennessee Tech attack falling to the Golden Eagles 2-0 Sunday afternoon. Following the loss EIU drops to 5-12-0 on the season and 2-7-0 in the OVC while TTU improves to 10-5-3 and 6-1-2 in the conference.
Tennessee Tech finished the match out shooting the Panthers 23-3. Freshman
Sara Teteak recorded six saves during the match.
TTU came out firing to open the match as the Panthers attempted to hold off the Golden Eagle attack. Tennessee Tech finally broke through in the 29th minute as Kalyn Pruett controlled the ball on the left side of the penalty area sending a shot over Teteak and into the net to put TTU ahead 1-0.
The Panthers held strong to send the match into halftime down 1-0.

Rachel Pappas recorded two shots late in the first period as EIU was out shot by TTU 14-2 in the first half.
The second half started out in a similar fashion as Tennessee Tech kept the pressure on EIU's defense. The Panthers managed to keep the Golden Eagles at bay until TTU earned a free kick near the penalty area. TTU's Abi Gearing headed home the free kick sent into the area by Karigan Owens to give Tennessee Tech a 2-0 cushion in the 74th minute.
Pappas earned EIU's only shot on goal of the match in the second period with a header saved by TTU's Kari Naerdemann as she finished the match with two shots.
Nora Vicsek and Julia Rebollo led Tennessee Tech with five shots each.
The Panther women's soccer team closes out their 2016 season this Thursday (Oct. 27) at SIU Edwardsville.
