CHICAGO –
Hannah Heinz first career goal at Eastern Illinois was memorable as the freshman knocked home a rebound inside the goal box during the seventh minute of overtime to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 victory at Chicago State on Friday afternoon.
Heinz goal was scored at the 6:36 mark of the first overtime period with the assist credited to
Madi Fisher and
Emma Scaro.
EIU improved to 1-3 on the season and will host Indiana State at 12 p.m. on Sunday afternoon for the home opener at Lakeside Field. Chicago State dropped to 1-3.
Another EIU freshman,
Henar Urteaga, scored the Panthers first goal of the season early in the opening half giving EIU a 1-0 halftime lead. Urteaga scored in the 12th minute as she beat a defender with a one-on-one move and fired a quick shot past the Chicago State goalkeeper.

Sara Teteak made two saves during the match picking up her first collegiate win.
Chicago State was able to even the score at 1-1 in the 57th minute as Mariela Alba was able to steal the ball in the EIU defensive backfield and knock home a shot.
EIU finished the match with eight shots on goal. Scaro and
Carrie Caplin were both credited with a pair of shots.
