CHARLESTON, Ill. – Southeast Missouri scored with just over two minutes remaining in the opening half and had that one goal stand-up during a 1-0 win over Eastern Illinois in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams.
Natasha Minor scored the lone goal of the match sending a ball high over EIU goalkeeper
Sara Teteak's head from 30-yards out. The ball was thrown in and passed over to Minor with assists to Esmeralda Gonzales and Brooke Merseal.
Teteak made six additional stops in the match. Kindra Lierz made one save for the Redhawks posting the shutout.
Henar Urteaga had the one shot on goal for EIU as the Panthers finished with four total shots. Urtreaga had two shots.
Chloe Gottschalk and
Rachel Pappas added the other two shots.
SEMO had a total of ten shots with seven on goal.
The Redhawks improved to 7-2-1, 1-0 in the OVC. EIU fell to 3-6 overall, 0-1 in the OVC.
