Eastern Illinois looks to rebound from its second home Ohio Valley Conference loss as the Panthers host Austin Peay on Saturday morning with the game televised nationally on American Sports Network. EIU is 9-8 overall, 1-3 in the OVC. This will be the first of two home EIU games on American Sports Network this season. EIU will host Southeast Missouri on Feb. 11 on ASN. Austin Peay snapped an 11-game losing streak Thursday night to improve to 5-13 overall, 1-3 in the OVC.
CHASING THE EIU ASSIST RECORD
Terrell Lewis continues his chase of the Eastern Illinois career assists record as the junior guard added eight assists to his career total on Thursday against Austin Peay. Lewis now needs four assists to tie Johnny Hernandez for the school mark of 415. Lewis is averaging 4.9 assists per game which ranks third in the OVC this season. He remains first in the OVC in assist-to-turnover ratio and seventh in the league in 3-pointers made. Lewis needs four 3-pointers to move into seventh on the EIU career 3-pointers made list.
DAMA ON THE BLOCK
Muusa Dama swatted away three shots against Murray State as the junior now has 35 blocked shots this season. Dama climbed to eighth on the EIU single season blocked shots list needing one block to move into a tie for sixth and three blocks to move into a tie for fifth at EIU. Dama leads the OVC in blocks and ranks 42nd in the NCAA. He scored a season high 15 points against Murray State and pulled down nine rebounds as he ranks second in the OVC in rebounding. Dama's season high for blocks was five against both Western Illinois and Indiana State. His season high for rebounds was 18 at Indiana State with two additional games of 15 rebounds.
