Eastern Illinois returns to Lantz Arena Wednesday night looking to end a four-game Ohio Valley Conference losing skid. The Panthers lost on the road at UT Martin and Southeast Missouri last weekend to fall to 9-11 overall, 1-6 in the OVC. EIU will be hosting Belmont, one of the top teams in the league. The Bruins have won nine straight games, the seventh longest active win streak in the nation, to stand at 13-4 overall, 7-0 in the OVC. EIU beat Belmont the last time the Bruins visited Lantz Arena on Jan. 10, 2015.
GOODWIN CONTINUES TO LEAD SCORING CHARGE
Montell Goodwin continues to lead Eastern Illinois in scoring this season as the junior ranks first on the Panthers team in scoring at 15 points per game which ranks 10th in the OVC. Goodwin has scored in double figures in six straight games and 17 total contests this season. His season high was 23 points in the Panthers OVC road win at Eastern Kentucky adding 20+ point performances at Missouri, at Indiana State and at UT Martin. Goodwin is eighth in the OVC with 47 made 3-pointers this year.
MULDOON BACK-TO-BACK DOUBLE FIGURE GAMES
Patrick Muldoon posted back-to-back double figure games for the Panthers on the road last weekend finishing with 14 points at UT Martin and 10 points at Southeast Missouri. The 14 points at UTM marked a career high for Muldoon as he was 7-of-13 from the field in that game. On Saturday at SEMO he was 4-of-9 from the field going 11-of-22 for the week. Muldoon added 13 rebounds with nine on the offensive glass to go along with two blocks and two assists. Last season Muldoon had a total of five double figure scoring games with a season high of 13 against Murray State to end the regular season.
