MARTIN, Tenn. – UT Martin scored two goals 40 seconds apart late in the second half as the Skyhawks beat Eastern Illinois in Ohio Valley Conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.
EIU dropped to 5-11-2 overall, 0-8-1 in the OVC. The Panthers will play their final match of the 2017 season on Thursday at Murray State. UTM improved to 6-9-3 overall, 4-4-1 in the OVC.
Haley Tausend gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the opening half as the freshman headed home a balled curled in on a corner by
Kayla Stolfa in the 26th minute.
EIU was able to make that one goal lead stand up until the final seven minutes of the match. Danae Kaldaridou tied the match at 1-1 in the 83rd minute (83:50) converting a penalty kick.
The Skyhawks immediately used that momentum to go on the attack and scored the game winning goal in the 84th minute (84:30) as Isabella Roberts scored from five yards out knocking home a deflected ball in the box.
EIU finished the match with seven shots on goal.
Sarah DeWolf had two shots on goal to lead the Panthers.
