Men's Soccer Set For Tuesday Match Against Belmont

UP NEXT: Men's soccer hosts Belmont for a non-conference match. Start time is set for 1 p.m. at Lakeside Field. Following Tuesday's match, the Panthers will host IUPUI for their final home contest on Wednesday Oct. 17.

SERIES HISTORY: EIU holds a 4-2 advantage in the series history against Belmont. The teams last met on the pitch in 2012. The Panthers fell 1-2 to the Bruins after they scored just three minutes into the overtime period. Belmont took 18 shots total with nine on goal compared to EIU's 12 shots total with four on goal. EIU looks to gain another win in the series and improve to 5-2 in the series match-up.

SCOUTING BELMONT: Belmont is 4-6-2 overall and holds a 2-4 conference record ranking ninth in the Horizon League. The Bruins have lost three of their four games in October with their only win coming against IUPUI. Belmont also has wins against Niagara, Georgia State, and Milwaukee. The Bruins have scored 14 goals this season. Matteo Bennati and Adam Voloder lead the Bruins with three goals scored each. Bennati has seven total points for Belmont, while Voloder has six.

COLLADO ENDS DROUGHT: Fabio Collado scored for the Panthers in Tuesday's double-overtime match against Oral Roberts. Collado found the back of the net in the 104th minute ending EIU's seven game scoring drought. The last game the Panthers scored in was on Sept. 10 against Saint Francis. Zach Medawattage scored for EIU in the 82nd minute.

HOME MATCHES: The Panthers have hold a winning record at home this season. Overall they are 2-1-3 and 1-0-1 SL so far this season. They have scored two of their five goals at home and taken 54 shots total with 20 on goal. The Panthers will play two more home games before concluding the regular season on the road.

SUMMIT LEAGUE PLAY: EIU holds a 1-2-1 record in Summit League play. They have one more conference match at Fort Wayne at 6 p.m. on Nov. 4. The Panthers currently rank 3rd in conference behind Denver (2-0 SL) and Western Illinois (2-0). EIU needs to remain in the top four teams to clinch post-season play.

HEAD COACH: Kiki Lara is in his third season as EIU men's soccer head coach. Lara was hired as the men's soccer head coach in 2015 and was promoted to director of soccer overseeing both programs in the spring of 2015. Lara is a 2003 graduate of Incarnate Word and played in the USL First Division for five seasons. He came to EIU following a stint as the assistant men's soccer coach at Dayton.
