VALPARAISO, Ind. - The Panthers played at Valparaiso Monday night. They fell to the Crusaders 1-3 in the match-up.
Christian Sosnowski scored late in the first half for EIU. In the 44th minute, Sosnowski scored from 13 yards out finding the corner of the net.
Tyler Enright tallied the assist on the play.
The Crusaders responded just ten minutes into the first half. Rafael Mentzingen scored six yards out off a free kick taken by Adan Garcia who recorded an assist on the play. Garcia also scored in the game for Valparaiso. At the 68:41 minute mark, Garcia found the back of the net off a penalty kick putting the Crusaders up 2-1.
Mentzingen scored again for Valparaiso just before the end of the match. He broke away from the defense taking a clear kick at the net scoring his second goal of the match. The Crusaders finished the game with 14 shots total with eight on goal.
Mike Novotny stopped the ball five times for the Panthers. EIU had six shots total.
Kris Luke and Sosnowski each with one shot on goal for the Panthers.
EIU will close out conference and season play on Saturday Nov. 4 at Fort Wayne.
