MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois men's soccer scored in the opening minute Saturday afternoon and went on to post a 2-0 win over Eastern Illinois in Summit League action.
Armel Kouassi scored 37 seconds games into the match for the Leathernecks as WIU improved to 4-5 overall, 2-0 in the Summit League.
WIU tacked on an insurance goal in the 33rd minute as Drew Whalen scored on an assist from Paul Kirdorf.
EIU would increase its attacks in the second half with eight shots as the Panthers finished the match with an 11-8 shots advantage. EIU would finish with five shots on goal.Â
Erik Isaksson had two shots on goal to lead EIU.
The Panthers fell to 2-4-5 overall, 0-1-1 in the Summit League. Â
