After dropping its first nine road games of the season, Eastern Illinois now has a road win streak as they improved to 6-9 overall, 2-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 54-53 win at Eastern Kentucky. EIU snapped the losing skid on Thursday night with a 61-52 win at Morehead State. The Panthers now return home for four straight OVC games starting with a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network against Tennessee State. TSU enters at 6-9 overall, 1-3 in the OVC. EIU is 4-0 at home this year with the Panthers averaging 82 points per game and shooting 54.6 percent from the field during those four home games.
GOODWIN CONTINUES SCORING STREAK
Montell Goodwin finished with 15 points at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday as the senior has now scored in double figures in eight straight games. Goodwin leads the Panthers in scoring for the season at 13.6 points per game but has increased that scoring average to 17.5 points per game over the last eight games. Goodwin currently ranks 8th in the OVC in 3-pointers with 35 and has climbed to 17th on the EIU career list with 103. Goodwin has scored in double figures in 13 games this season and 36 times for his career. His season high is 23 points against Western Illinois.
DAMA POSTS DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Muusa Dama posted his second double-double this season and the tenth of his career on Saturday at Eastern Kentucky. Dama finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. For the weekend Dama averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds. It was the fourth time in the last six games that Dama has scored in double figures as he is shooting 60 percent from the field in the last six games. It was the fourth time this season Dama has pulled down double figure rebounds in a game.
