HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Eastern Illinois men's soccer fell 3-0 on the road to Northern Kentucky Tuesday night. The Norse scored the game winning goal in the first half but they added two more in the second half to record their eighth win of the season. The Panthers fall to 2-6-3 overall, while NKU improves to 8-3.
NKU set an aggressive offensive pace from the start of the match. The Norse took 17 total shots with eight on goal. Alex Willis led the team with four shots on goal while Calvin Murphy finished with two. Murphy scored just 14 minutes into the match to secure the win for the Norse. Felix Komolong and Stian Joergensen used back-to-back headers in the box to pass to Murphy who scored in close range.
Murphy would go on to scored again in the 52nd minute assisted by Willis and Alex Greive. Rizwaan Dharsey scored the final goal for NKU with a little under ten minutes left to play. Rikard Lindqvist tallied an assist on the play.
The Panthers took eight total shots. Cameron Behm led EIU with three shots and took the only shot on goal. Chad Hamler finished with two shots while Shady Omar, Jake Andrews, and Toby Andrews each had one.
Jonathan Burke logged 90 minutes in the goal for the Panthers and made five saves
EIU will be back in action Saturday Oct. 6 at 12 pm to play Summit League rival Western Illinois.
