MILWAUKEE - It was a battle of Panthers as Eastern Illinois traveled to Milwaukee for their final non-conference match of the season. Milwaukee managed a 2-1 win in overtime over EIU Tuesday night. EIU falls to 3-8-4 overall while Milwaukee improves to 7-6-2 overall.
Milwaukee scored the first goal of the match at the 17:33 minute mark. Evan Conway beat EIU goalkeeper
Jonathan Burke to the far post off a series of passes from Shawn Azcueta and Suad Suljic. Conway would finish the match with seven total shots four of which he took on goal.
Kris Luke responded in the second half of play with his second goal of the year.
Alex Castaneda took a free kick in the 55th minute setting Luke up for a header into the back of the net. Luke was one of two players to manage a shot on goal for EIU.
Jake Andrews took the Panthers only other shot on goal.
Milwaukee would win the game five minutes into the overtime period as Suljic scored on a header from a free kick. Suljic took five total shots with three on goal and tallied three points off his goal and assist.
Milwaukee held an 18-to-3 advantage in shots and a 10-to-0 advantage in corner kicks over the 95 minutes played.
Burke made seven stops in goal for the Panthers allowing both of Milwaukee's goals. Freddy Lorenzen made one stop for Milwaukee.
The Panthers will be back in action for senior day and their final home match this Saturday Oct. 27 at 2 pm vs. Purdue Fort Wayne.
