Charleston, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois volleyball team wrapped up their weekend at Murray State Saturday afternoon. The Panthers fell to the racers in three sets 25-20, 25-10, and 25-22.
With the loss, EIU drops to 6-15 on the season and 1-5 in the OVC.
Both teams exchanged points throughout the first set stringing together a bunch of runs throughout the set. The Racers took an early 3-0 run to start the match off a
Morgan Matusik service error. Late in the set the Panthers would jump out to their highest run of the set with a 4-0 run ignited by a Matusik kill. Murray State would respond with a 5-0 set to help secure the first set from the Panthers.
Murray State would come out aggressive in the second set jumping out to three 5-0 runs throughout the set. The runs would be the difference maker in the set, as the Racers would not allow a lead change throughout the set. Rachel Guistino led the Racers in kills for the second set with four.
The third set featured the most balance of play between the two teams as they had a match high three lead changes and 13 ties.
