GAME 11
Eastern Illinois women's basketball continues their four-game home stand this Sunday Dec. 30. The Panthers will play the Eureka Red Devils for their final non-conference game of the year at 4:15 pm in Lantz Arena. EIU is coming off a 63-39 home win over Indiana State last week and look to surpass the .500 mark heading into OVC play. Eureka is 4-6 overall in the SLIAC Division III conference.
PACE IS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Karle Pace picked up her first career OVC Player of the Week honor earlier this week following her performances at Northern Illinois and Indiana State earlier this month. Pace extended her double-figure scoring streak to eight straight games after pouring in a team-leading 22 points at NIU and 18 points vs. ISU. She shot over 53 percent from the field, over 42 percent from the arc, and 90 percent from the free throw line to lead the Panthers. Pace also recorded a season-best six assists vs. ISU falling just one assist shy of matching her career-high set last season. This is Pace's second career OVC honor as she received Freshman of the Week once last season.
CONNECTING FROM THE ARC
Pace and
Taylor Steele are each on a five-game streak of connecting from three-point range. Steele was 3-for-5 from three-point range in the Panthers home win over ISU while Pace was 2-for-3. At NIU, both players connected on one three-point shot. Against Southern Illinois and Western Illinois, Pace knocked down two three-pointers, while Steele hit one attempt. On the road at Valparaiso, Pace made one three-pointer, while Steele went 3-for-7 from the arc.
