Eastern Illinois hosts SIUE as the Panthers wrap up the regular season in Lantz Arena. EIU has already locked up a spot in this year's OVC Tournament and a win over the Cougars would secure the No. 7 seed in the tournament field. EIU enters the game at 10-18 overall, 6-11 in the OVC. SIUE enters at 9-19 overall, 5-12 in the OVC. EIU won the first meeting between the two schools this season, 78-74, as the Panthers hit six free throws in the final 16 seconds to hold on for the win.
ANOTHER LINE-UP COMBINATION
EIU head coach
Jay Spoonhour used his 12th different starting line-up this season on Thursday night against Murray State. That total ranks 13th in the NCAA for number of different starting line-ups this season. Siena is the national leader with 18 different combinations. UT Martin is the OVC leader with 17 different combinations. This season EIU has had a total of five players miss 50 games due to injury including all four point guards.
BLOCKS PILING UP FOR PANTHERS
Eastern Illinois added seven blocks to its season total on Thursday against Murray State as the Panthers rank second in the OVC at 4.4 blocks per game. EIU's team total of 123 ranks as the third best single season total in school history. EIU has two players
Aboubacar Diallo (2nd, 44 blocks) and
Muusa Dama (5th, 34 blocks) currently in the OVC top ten this year.
