CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois Softball wins their ninth straight game as they sweep day two of the Chattanooga Frost Classic. The Panthers defeated Evansville 9-6 in extra innings to start the day.
Kendyl McKeough hit another three-run home run to secure a 5-3 win over IUPUI to close out the day.

EIU improves to 11-3 overall following their two wins today.

The Panthers opened day two of the Chattanooga Frost classic with a rematch vs. Evansville who defeated EIU 11-0 back on Feb. 11. EIU beat the Purple Aces Saturday afternoon 9-6 in extra innings.

Both teams were quite on the offensive end until the fifth inning. The Panthers got on the board with three runs to take a 3-0 lead.
Haley Mitchell tallied two RBI off a single up the middle.
Mia Davis grounded out to second base but
Mady Poulter was able to make it home.
Jessica Wireman gave up two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning including a two run home run and the Purple Aces closed the Panthers lead to one run.

EIU scored three unearned runs in the top of the sixth inning and held Evansville without a hit to close the sixth inning. The Purple Aces scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 6-6 forcing extra innings.

Morgan LaMore doubled to right field in the top of the ninth inning to score Mitchell and Poulter leaving her and Davis on bases. Davis went on to score on a wild pitch putting the Panthers up 9-6 with a half inning left to play.
Michelle Rogers held her own on the mound not allowing the Purple Aces to get a hit and the Panthers won their eighth straight game.

The Panthers recorded nine hits in the game with Mitchell tallying a team-leading three hits.
Kayla Bear recorded two hits. Mitchell and LaMore tallied three and two RBI, respectively.

Wireman pitched 6.1 innings recording eight strikeouts. Rogers came in to relieve Wireman and pitched 2.2 innings. Rogers earned the win.

The Panthers played IUPUI to close the second day of play and defeated the Jaguars 5-3.

IUPUI scored first in the bottom of the third inning, but the Panthers quickly tied the game in the top of the fourth.
Andrea Roberts scored in the top of the fifth inning following a single by Bear to center field. The Jaguars tied it right back up in the bottom of the fifth at 2-2.

McKeough pinch hit for
Maria DeVito in the top of the sixth inning with
Jennifer Ames and
Taylor Monahan on base. McKeough followed up yesterday's performance knocking another three-run home run out of the park giving the Panthers a 5-2 edge over IUPUI. The Jaguars went on to score another run in the seventh inning, but it was EIU who walked away with the win.

The Panthers tallied nine hits vs. IUPUI. Rogers pitched six innings and picked up her second win of the day improving to 5-2 on the season. Wireman picked up her third save of the season.

EIU will close out the Chattanooga Frost Classic with a 9 am game vs. Alabama State.
