CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis played its first outdoor home match of the season as the Panthers lost 7-0 in Ohio Valley Conference action to Belmont. Due to inclement weather forecast for Saturday in the Central Illinois area, EIU will return indoors tomorrow to host Tennessee State at 12:30 p.m. at the Danville Tennis Center.

EIU was competitive in all three doubles matches to open the day as two of the three contests were decided on tiebreakers. EIU picked up the tiebreaking win at No. 2 doubles with
Freddie O'Brien and
Trent Reiman winning 7-6 (8-6) over Stephan Goldman and Zak Khan.  Belmont won 7-5 at No. 3 singles and then claimed the doubles point with a win at No. 1 doubles. Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic beat
Jared Woodson and
Gage Kingsmith in a tiebreaker to give the Bruins the point. Belmont won 7-6 (8-6).

In singles action the Bruins were able to win all six points in straight sets.  O'Brien playing at No. 1 singles lost the opening set in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (7-4), before falling 6-2 in the second set to lose the match to Inno.Â
Trent Reiman also battled at No. 5 singles falling to Goldman, 6-4, 6-3.

EIU fell to 4-15 overall, 0-4 in the OVC. Belmont improved to 9-10 overall, 2-0 in the OVC.
