DANVILLE, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis picked up a big win over Tennessee State on Saturday afternoon in Ohio Valley Conference play at the Danville Tennis Center as the top six teams qualify for this year's conference tournament. EIU won the match 4-3 to pick up its first conference win of the season.

EIU is now 5-15 overall, 1-4 in the OVC. The Panthers will wrap up conference play next Saturday at Austin Peay. TSU fell to 9-7 overall, 0-1 in the league.

EIU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match as they won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles over the Tigers.Â
Gage Kingsmith and
Jared Woodson teamed up at No. 1 doubles to beat Jackson Gwinn and Larry Sloan, 6-4.  It was the seventh doubles win of the spring season for Kingsmith and Woodson as they are now 3-1 in doubles play in OVC action.  Â
Grant Reiman and
Logan Charbonneau then helped EIU clinch the point at No. 3 doubles with a 6-4 win over Tanishq Mahendru and Shashank Nautiyal.

The Panthers would win the match at the top of their line-up as they scored points at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles during the one point win.

Freddie O'Brien won his match at No. 1 singles over Stefan Koruga with a second set tiebreak. O'Brien posted a 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) victory.

Charbonneau and Kingsmith would then help push EIU to the win. Charbonneau won 6-1, 6-3 over Gwinn at No. 3 singles while Kingsmith posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Sloan at No. 4 singles.

Grant Reiman won his first set playing at No. 2 singles before falling in three sets to Nautiyal 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
