EIU had only three base runners over the seven innings. Andrea Roberts reached the bases in the third inning following a dropped fly ball by the center fielder. She reached again in the fifth inning off an error by the Govs. Mady Poulter was walked in the fourth inning, but the Panthers were held scoreless.

Kacy Acree singled down the left field line in the fourth inning tallying one of APSU's two hits. Shorter hit a solo homer in the seventh for the walk-off win for the Govs.

Jessica Wireman retired seven batters and falls to  13-10 on the mound. Morgan Rackle pitched a no-hitter for APSU and recorded 11 strikeouts over seven innings.

Game 2
The Panthers fell in game two 11-5. Haley Mitchell led the Panthers with two hits and two RBI, while Kayla Bear was 2-for-3 at the plate.

EIU opened the game scoring four runs in the first two innings. Mitchell doubled up the middle in the top of the first to score Bear and Poulter who both reached on hits. Megan Burton opened the second inning with a double and eventually scored on a sac fly from Bear. Kiley Pelker also scored a run for the Panthers on an error from APSU's third baseman.

APSU rallied in the bottom of the second and went on to score eight straight runs through the bottom of the sixth inning forcing three EIU pitching changes. Carly Mattson scored the Govs first run of the game on a throwing error from Roberts. Acree later doubled to  left center and tallied two RBI to bring APSU within one of the Panthers.

Mattson tallied the last hit of the inning with a double down the left field line recording on RBI on the play. Mattson finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate. APSU added another three runs through the bottom of the sixth inning to finish the game with 12 team hits.
