CHICAGO - Eastern Illinois men's soccer fell to DePaul Tuesday afternoon in their final exhibition match of the season. The Blue Demons took a 2-1 win over the Panthers.
Max de Bruijne scored for DePaul in the first ten minutes of play as Jake Fuderer tallied the assist. Timmy Iscra added a second goal for the Blue Demons 27 minutes into the first half giving them a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.Â
Erik Isaksson found the back of the net late in the second half scoring on a header for the Panthers while
Jake Andrews recorded an assist on the play.
The Panthers took eight shots with five on goal.
Shady Omar led EIU with two shots on goal, while
Christian Sosnowski,
David Camacho Jr. and Isaksson each added one. The Blue Demons also took eight total shots with four on goal.
Jonathan Burke started in goal for the Panthers and tallied two saves. Drew Nuelle and Kyle Smith split time in the net for DePaul. Nuelle made three stops, while Smith made one and allowed the Panthers only goal.
EIU will open the regular season on August 27 at Cincinnati with a 7 pm start time.
