ON TAP: The Panthers travel to Belmont Tuesday Sept. 25 for a 6:30 pm match. The Panthers fell to 2-4-2 last week while Belmont improved to 1-5-1. EIU was shutout 2-0 in both matches last week vs. Wright State and Northern Illinois. The Bruins picked up their first win of the season last week over Presbyterian in double overtime.
SCOUTING BELMONT: The Bruins started their season on a four game losing streak with losses to Bradley, Lipscomb, Campbell, and Appalachian State. They played to a 1-1 tie vs. San Diego State before losing to 3-0 to Memphis. Belmont picked up their first win last week vs. Presbyterian in double overtime. Niccolo Dagnino leads the team with 11 shots on the season, while five different players have recorded goals over the first half of the season.
SERIES HISTORY: EIU holds a 4-3 advantage in the all-time series history as the teams meet for the eighth time. The last time they met was in the 2017 season. The Bruins took a 2-1 win over the Panthers in overtime.

Shady Omar each tallied assists on EIU's only goal of the match.
BURKE IN THE RANKS: Goalkeeper
Jonathan Burke continues to be one of the top goalies in the Summit League. Following last week's play, Burke moved up to second in the standings with a .781 save percentage, and he ranks fourth with 25 total saves on the season.
SEASON START: Through the first eight games of the season the Panthers have seen the second best start during head coach
Kiki Lara's tenure with the team. Their 2-4-2 start matches the 2016 start in Lara's second season with the team. The Panthers were 2-2-4 last season for the best start under Lara.
THREE GAME DROUGHT: The Panthers are looking to get on the board with a goal for the first time since Sept. 9 when they beat Mercer 2-1. The Panthers played to a 0-0 tie vs. IUPUI and suffered 2-0 losses to WSU and NIU.
Christian Sosnowski has two goals on the year to lead the Panthers while Omar, Luke, and
Toby Andrews each have scored one.
UP-NEXT: EIU returns home Saturday Sept. 29 to open conference play vs. No. 4 Denver. The match is set to start at 12 pm.
HEAD COACH: Lara is in his fourth season as EIU men's soccer head coach. Last season, Lara coach the Panthers to a 4-9-6 overall record and their second consecutive post season appearance. Lara also coached the Summit League's Goalkeeper of the Year and two All-Newcomer Team selections last season.
