EIU Box Score vs Olivet Nazarene
HANOVER PARK, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis opened the 2019 spring season with a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon in the Chicago area. The Panthers beat NAIA members Judson University and Olivet Nazarene to start the season with a 2-0 record.
EIU won both matches by a 9-0 count as all six players on the roster won their matches in straight sets.
After EIU swept all three doubles points in the opener against Judson,
Claire Martin set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles beating Ellen Binnion.
Srishti Slaria won in straight sets at No. 2 singles and then
Abby Carpenter secured the match win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Martha Banda at No. 4 singles.
In the second match of the day against Olivet Nazarene, EIU again swept all three doubles matches. The Panthers pushed their lead in the match to 4-0 with a default win by
Karla Contreras at No. 6 singles.
Martin then clinched the win for EIU sliding down and playing at No. 4 singles as she posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Amanda Eberly.
