INDIANAPOLIS – Eastern Illinois men's tennis opened the 2019 season a week later than expected as the Panthers were snowed out in last week's scheduled opener at Ball State.Â
On Friday evening, EIU made its season debut at IUPUI with the Panthers coming up short in a 4-1 loss. The Panthers return to action on Sunday afternoon at Saint Louis.
EIU lost the doubles point as IUPUI was able to win two of the three matches.Â

Freddie O'Brien picked up a 6-5 win playing at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action
Logan Charbonneau scored the lone point for EIU in the match with a three set win over Eric Hollingsworth at No. 5 singles. Charbonneau won 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.
O'Brien and
Daniel Hernandez had both pushed their singles matches at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, to a third set when IUPUI clinched the match.  The winning point for the Jaguars came at No. 2 singles with Sean Bailey holding off
Mike Jansen in three sets 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
