GAME 16
Eastern Illinois looks to improve to 3-0 to start Ohio Valley Conference play after the Panthers won their second straight overtime game on Saturday beating SIUE, 84-81.  The Panthers have won three in a row and six of their last seven heading into the first road trip of the conference season.  EIU has only started one other OVC season with a 3-0 conference mark, that occurred during the 2014-15 season when EIU opened OVC play at 6-0 with all six wins coming over East Division teams.   Jacksonville State also enters at 2-0 in the OVC following road wins at Belmont and Tennessee State.  JSU is 10-5 overall having won five of their last six games.

WALLACE WINS OVC NEWCOMER AWARD
Sophomore guard Josiah Wallace was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week following his performances in the first two conference games of the season.  Wallace averaged 25.5 points per game for the weekend as is tied for first in scoring in conference games and seventh in overall scoring.  Wallace had 27 points in the win over UT Martin with 18 coming in the first half.  He had 24 points against SIUE including the first five points in overtime.  Wallace added ten rebounds, ten assists, three blocks and one steal.  It is the second time this season he has won the OVC Newcomer Award.

DIALLO MOVES UP EIU CAREER BLOCKS LIST
Senior Aboubacar Diallo had five blocks in the win over SIUE as he moved into fourth place on the EIU career blocks list with 88.  It was the third time in his career that Diallo had finished a game with five blocks (twice last season against Austin Peay).  He has eight blocks to open OVC play after ranking third in the conference in blocks last season with 47.  Diallo had three blocks at Iowa State just before the Holiday Break and now ranks fifth in the OVC this season with 14 total blocks.
