CHARLESTON, Illinois - EIU defeated the IUPUI Jaguars in a 1-0 shutout on a hot Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers continued their dominance at Lakeside Field coming up with their third win at home. The Panthers move to 4-4-1 on the season, while the Jaguars fall to 3-4-1.
The Panthers looked strong on both ends of the pitch. Eastern took nine shots during the match, seven of which were on goal, while managing to keep the Jaguars to eight shots on the match with only two being on goal. The Panthers remain undefeated at Charleston this season.
Shady Omar led the team in shots with three, with
Maxwell Allen scoring the winning goal for the Panthers, his first of the season. This was the first in-game action Allen had played this season and he did not disappoint. Allen's goal came off an assist from
Cameron Behm, his third of the season.Â
On the defensive side of the ball, the Panthers made the frustrated Jaguars work for every shot. EIU kept IUPUI from getting many looks at the goal, and the few that did goalkeeper
Jonathan Burke stopped. Burke had two saves on the game and the fourth shutout of the season. Â
The Panthers return to Lakeside Field on Saturday Oct. 5 at 3 pm to take on Oral Roberts, the No. 1 team in the Summit League.
