Women's Soccer Ends Home Season With 1-1 Tie

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's soccer wrapped up its home 2019 schedule on Friday afternoon playing its third straight overtime match.  After 110 minutes, EIU and Tennessee Tech walked away with a 1-1 draw on Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field.
 
EIU is now 3-8-3 overall, 2-4-2 in the OVC.  TTU is 6-5-5 overall, 4-1-3 in the OVC.
 
Both goalkeepers were solid on the day as Sara Teteak finished with four saves for EIU.  Isabelle Austin collected five saves for TTU. 
 
After a scoreless first half, EIU had a good scoring opportunity early in the second half as Itxaso Aguero had her shot hit the post in the 51st minute.
 
Tennessee Tech finally broke through in the 68th minute as Kendall Powell found a free ball in the goal box and redirected a deflected ball for the Golden Eagles goal.
 
Eastern Illinois countered five minutes later as Sarah DeWolf found a ball near the top of the box and sent a high shot that just deflected over the hands of Austin.
 
In the overtime session, both teams had two scoring chances.  TTU had a shot early in the first overtime by Tina Marlot.  Macy Carter would have header in the box in the 102nd minute.
 
The Panthers had two chances in the second overtime with DeWolf sending a good shot towards the goal in the 105th minute.  Haylee Renick made one final scoring run that was saved by Austin in the 109th minute.
