Women's Soccer Picks Up OVC Points With Tie At APSU

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois women's soccer picked up a point in the Ohio Valley Conference standings on Friday afternoon as the Panthers played Austin Peay to a 1-1 draw. 
 
EIU wraps up the regular season on Sunday at Murray State and can advance to the OVC Tournament with a win over the Racers or if Morehead State loses or ties SIUE on Sunday.  
 
The Panthers are now 3-8-4 on the season, 2-4-3 in the OVC.  Austin Peay is 4-8-4 overall, 3-4-2 on the year.
 
EIU took control of the match midway through the first half scoring the first goal of the contest in the 32nd minute.  Haylee Renick finished off a pass from Itxaso Aguero for the Panthers goal.
 
EIU would hold the lead for just over 50 minutes before APSU could even the score with less than six minutes remaining in the match.  Anna McPhie scored on an assist by Ashley Whittaker.
 
In the overtime sessions, EIU had a 4-1 shot advantage with APSU goalkeeper Mary Powell Parker making two saves in the second overtime.
 
EIU goalkeeper Sara Teteak finished with eight saves in the match.
