RICHMOND, KY. – After losing to Morehead in straight sets last night the Panthers looked to regain some momentum. Eastern Kentucky won in three sets (27-25, 25-17, 25-22) to win the match.
The Panthers take an early lead scoring the first two points but EKU took control quick going up by six points to lead 14-8. The Panthers were able to chip away point by point to tie the set up at 20-20 with a kill from
Kylie Michael. The Panthers fought back hard but the Colonels won the last three points to win the first set in extra points.
In the second set it was back and forth until EKU goes on an 8-0 run to take control of the second set. The Panthers have their own run but it wasn't enough as EKU went on to win the set by eight points.
In the third set the Panthers took their first lead of the set at 6-5 and would hold onto that lead until EKU went on 6-0 run to regain the lead at 20-19. EIU would fight back to tie the set up at 22-22 but the Colonels won the last three points to take the set and match.
The Panthers were led by
Laurel Bailey with ten kills and 11 digs for a double-double on the day.
Bailey Chandler would lead the team in assists with 25 and
Madison Cunningham led the team in digs with 17.
The Panthers are back in action next, we on the road as they head to Austin Peay and Murray State.
