Men's Soccer Wins Final Conference Match

EIU defeats PFW in the final conference match of the season

Box Score

FORT WAYNE, IN
- EIU won their final regular season conference match 1-0 against Purdue Fort Wayne. The Panthers get their first conference win of the season against the Mastadons. Eastern moves into the fourth place spot in The Summit League and have some serious hopes for the postseason. EIU moves to 5-8-2 on the season, while PFW moves to 3-14.

Jonas Castelhano scored the game-winning goal in the 30th minute of play. Eastern took a total of nine shots with Davi Girardi leading the team in shots with three. The offense played well against the Don's, and after the scored held it down on defense for the entire match. The defensive staples Edgar Mesa, Quinn Rechner and Delphy Sabu played all 90 minutes of the match and stopped the Don's from managing a goal. The Panthers let up 14 shots, however only four shots were on goal. Jonathan Burke made quick work of the shots; recording four saves on the match.

The Panthers now have moved into the postseason, nabbing the final spot for now. The only way the Panthers could fall out would be if Denver defeats the Don's and move to 2-2-1. The Panthers will move on and play Green Bay on the road for their final match of the season.
