Panther Slap Hits
The Panthers will travel to Samford University for a four game tournament starting Friday Feb. 15 at 10 am. They will play two games vs. Georgia State and one game vs. DePaul and Samford for this weekend's action.
Megan Burton led EIU at the plate last weekend batting .375 with six hits including one double, one triple, and one homer. She scored four runs and tallied four RBI.
Kendyl McKeough hit two homers last weekend to tally seven RBI. One came in the Panthers 11-5 win over KSU. The second came in their 8-0 shutout over KSu.
Mady Poulter was solid at the plate for EIU. Three of her four hits last weekend were doubles, and she scored five runs for the Panthers.

Scouting the Field
Georgia State is 0-5 to start their season. They opened their season in Honolulu, Hawaii with losses to UCLA, UT Arlington, Fresno State, Hawaii, and St. Mary's. Caitlin Ray leads the Panthers at the plate batting .333 to start the season. She had five hits and two RBI. Savannah Freeman recorded a team-high five strikeouts on the mound for GSU.
DePaul started the season going 5-0 last weekend. They picked up wins over Green Bay, Evansville, UMKC, and Purdue Fort Wayne. Two players recorded seven hits to lead the Blue Devils.Natalie Halvorson finished with a .51 ERA and 15 strikeouts, while Krista Dalgarn added 10 strikeouts.
Samford is 1-4 to open the year. They split with McNeese State to tally their only win, while losing to Lipscomb, Campbell, and No. 14 Arkansas. Merritt Cahoon batted .333 to lead the Bulldogs. She tallied three hits and one run. Lacey Spear finished with a team-best 2.57 ERA with three strikeouts.
