Eastern Illinois returns home for one game as the Panthers are in the midst of playing five games in a six-game span on the road. EIU is 1-2 to open that road swing following a 79-65 win at SIUE on Thursday night. The Panthers are now 14-12 overall, 7-6 in the OVC. EIU hosts Southeast Missouri on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the season series against the Redhawks. SEMO enters at 8-18 overall, 3-10 in the OVC. SEMO is 0-6 on the road in the OVC this season. The Redhawks did win the first meeting between the schools this season in Cape Girardeau, 64-59.
MACK SMITH CONNECTING FROM 3-POINT LAND
Mack Smith knocked down four first half 3-pointers on Thursday at SIUE as the sophomore ranks third in the OVC in 3-pointers made this season. Smith has moved up to 13th on the EIU single season list for 3-pointers made with 68 and needs six more this season to move into the top ten. Smith has now knocked down multiple 3-pointers in nine straight games including back-to-back games with four 3-pointers. His season high was six 3-pointers made in the win at Bradley.
MATLOCK WITH A COMPLETE GAME
JaQualis Matlock put together a complete game for the Panthers during Thursday night's win at SIUE. Matlock pulled down a season high 11 rebounds becoming the fourth EIU player this season with double figure rebounds in a game. The junior college transfer added six points, four assists, three blocks and a steal in the win. Matlock is currently tied for the team lead in rebounds per game at 4.8. He is second on the team with 48 offensive rebounds and one of four EIU players with double figure blocks this season.
