PEORIA. Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis suffered its first loss of the 2019 season as the Panthers dropped a 5-2 match on Saturday afternoon at Bradley. EIU will return to action on Sunday in Peoria playing Omaha.

EIU is now 3-1 on the season. Bradley improved to 3-1.

EIU won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match. After Bradley won at number two doubles,
Shelby Anderson and
Karla Contreras evened the doubles action with a 6-4 win at number three.Â
Rachel Papavasilopoulos and
Srishti Slaria won at number one doubles, 6-4, to give EIU the early point.

Bradley then won at number one singles and number three singles to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Anderson would post a two-set win at number five singles to even the scoring. Anderson won 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 over Nina Marjannovic.Â

Bradley then won the next three points in the match with all three wins coming in three sets. Nikki Perlwitz would hold off Contreras in number six singles with a third set tie-breaker to score the final point for the Braves.
