AURORA, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's and women's tennis both walked away with their second win of the weekend on Saturday with victories over North Central College. Both programs had 7-0 decisions over the Cardinals.
The EIU women won their fourth straight match as they improved to 7-4 on the season. The NCC women fell to 8-4.
The EIU men moved their record back to .500 for the season at 8-8. The NCC men fell to 8-2.
The Panther women won all three matches in doubles to secure the early point in the match.
Abby Carpenter and
Karla Contreras teamed at number three doubles to post a 6-0 win.
In singles play
Rachel Papavasilopoulos,
Srishti Slaria and
Claire Martin all picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins as the Panthers won all six singles matches in straight sets. Papavasilopoulos played at number one singles. Slaria played at number two and Martin at number four.
The men's match saw all three doubles pairings go to the Panthers with
Luka Knieling and
Daniel Hernandez having the most closely contested match at number three doubles as they had a 7-5 win.
In singles play all six EIU players won in straight sets.
Logan Charbonneau won 6-0, 6-2 at number four singles while Knieling won 6-0, 6-3 playing at number single singles.
