The Panthers will play a pair of double-headers this weekend

Panther Slap Hits
Eastern Illinois softball opens up conference play with a pair of home doubleheaders vs. Murray State and Austin Peay this weekend. Murray State's games were originally scheduled for Friday but have been pushed back to a 1 pm start on Saturday. The games with APSU on Sunday are set to start at the originally scheduled time. The Panthers are coming off a 10-game trip to Clearwater, Fla. where they finished 5-5 with a sweep of Buffalo and Seton Hall on the final day of play in the USF Series.

At the USF Series, Hannah Cravens led EIU at the plate batting .400 with 10 hits. She tallied two runs scored and two RBI. She was also 3-of-4 on stolen bases for the week.

Kendyl McKeough hit a grand slam to lead the Panthers to a 4-0 win over Quinnipiac. She finished with a team-best 10 RBI on the Florida trip with nine hits including two doubles and one homer.

Scouting the Field
Murray State is 10-15 overall and are on a four game losing streak after going 1-4 at the Memphis softball tournament. Hannah James has a 3.36 ERA for the Racers and has made 17 starts on the mound. She has a team-best 59 strikeouts. Brenna Finck bats .341 to lead Murray. She has 28 hits with 18 runs scored and seven RBI. Lillie Goetz has 24 hits, 15 runs scored, and a team high 21 RBI. She also has seven doubles on the year.

APSU is 15-13 on the year and will play at SIUE before heading to Charleston, Ill. They are currently on a one game win streak after beating Michigan State 5-2. Morgan Rackel has a 2.45 ERA with 114 strikeouts and has four shutouts this season. Danielle Liermann leads the governors at the plate batting .362. She has 34 hits including 11 homers to lead the OVC. APSU has seven players with at least 10 RBI on the season.
