EIU vs. Murray State Box Score  

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis played its final home match of the 2019 season on Saturday as the Panthers lost at home, 6-1, to Murray State.  Prior to the match EIU honored seniors Srishti Slaria and Abby Carpenter.
 
Murray State picked up the first point of the match winning in doubles at the number two and three positions.   Slaria and Rachel Papavasilopoulos had their match at number one doubles left unfinished tied 4-4 when the Racers clinched the doubles point.
 
The Racers extended their lead to 3-0 with wins at number six and number three singles.
 
Papavasilopoulos then scored the lone point of the afternoon for the Panthers with a three-set win at number one singles.  She won 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. 
 
The final three singles matches also came down to three sets.  Murray State would clinch the match with Sara Loncarevic holding off Karla Contreras 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at number five singles.
 
The Panthers two seniors then had the final two matches remaining on the court.  Slaria would fall in three sets at number two singles losing 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 to Stasya Sharapova.
 
Carpenter would fall in three sets at number four singles with scores of 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) to Aarja Chakraborty.
 
EIU falls to 11-9 overall, 2-4 in the OVC.  The Panthers will play at UT Martin and Southeast Missouri next weekend. 
 
Murray State is now 12-7 overall, 6-1 in the OVC.
