NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont was able to score points at the bottom of its line-up on Friday afternoon as the Bruins beat the Eastern Illinois women's tennis team 5-2 as the Panthers opened a busy weekend in Music City. EIU will play at Tennessee State on Saturday morning and visit Martin Methodist on Saturday afternoon during the return trip to Charleston.

EIU fell to 9-7 overall, 1-2 in the OVC. Belmont is now 10-6 overall, 3-1 in the OVC.

After Belmont won the doubles point by capturing wins at number two and number three singles, EIU was able to pick up a pair of wins at the top of its line-up.

Rachel Papavasilopoulos and
Srishti Slaria both won at number one and number two singles. Papavasilopoulos won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 over Drew Hawkins at number one. Slaria won 6-2, 6-3 over Peyton Lee at number two.Â

Papavasilopoulos and Slaria also captured a win at number one doubles with a 6-3 decision.
