The Eastern Illinois baseball team took on Virginia Military Institute in the second game of their non-conference series on Friday. Â The Keydets were able to secure the series with a 7-3 win over the Panthers.

With the loss, EIU falls to 25-29 on the season.

Hunter Morris got the Panthers on the board in the top of the first inning when he hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score
Christian Pena.

The Keydets responded in the next half inning when Jake Huggins would hit a one-run double to left center to even the game.

The Panthers would snatch the lead once again in the top of the third inning on a Pena RBI single down the right field line.

VMI would rally in the bottom of the third hitting three homeruns to take their first lead of the game.

Morris would blast his 12th homerun of the season in the top of the seventh inning with a solo shot to right field.

Alex Spahman suffered the loss on the mound for EIU. Spahman fell to 1-2 on the season after tossing 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.

The two teams will wrap-up their series tomorrow at 12 pm.
