The Eastern Illinois baseball team competed in their series opener at SIUE Friday afternoon.
Jimmy Govern would give the Panthers the lead in the top of the seventh with a two-run homer. The Panthers were able to defeat the Cougars 4-3 on Friday.

The Panthers were able to break into the scoring column in the top of the fourth inning. Govern led off the inning with a leadoff walk to give the Panthers their first base runner of the afternoon.
Ryan Knernschield would drive in the first run of the game with a one-run single to right field.

Brock Weimer would tie the game for SIUE in the bottom of the fourth with a one-run single to left field.

SIUE was able to take in the bottom of the fifth when Eric Glitz singled to center to drive in the go-ahead run.

EIU would tie the game in the top of the sixth inning on a one-run single by
Christian Pena.

Justin Perkins would give the Cougars the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a one-run single through the left side.

Michael YaSenka got the start on the hill for the Panthers tossing 6.0 innings with three strikeouts. YaSenka picked up his fourth win of the season after the Panthers win.
