** During the month of July, EIUPanthers.com will take a look back at 14 events or moments that helped shape the 2018-19 academic year. **

In a year of program turnarounds for Eastern Illinois athletics, the Panthers women's soccer team made a charge up the OVC standings during the 2018-19 season under first year head coach Jake Plant.

The Panthers run began during the regular season as EIU posted a 4-3-3 record in conference play to finish in third place in the OVC standings, the highest regular season conference finish for the program since the 2006 season.

EIU, a four-time OVC Tournament Champion, would qualify for the OVC Tournament for the first time since the 2014 season.  The run didn't stop at making the tournament field as the Panthers advanced to the OVC semifinals for the first time since the 2010 season.

EIU would have two players earn All-OVC honors during the regular season with two additional players earning All-Tournament accolades.

The season was capped by EIU winning the OVC Sportsmanship Award.
