PEORIA, Illinois - Eastern Illinois defeated Bradley on Friday night 1-0 off of a goal in the 67th minute by
Munir Sherali, the first of his career. This victory ends the Braves 695 day streak without a home loss to a non-conference opponent. This is EIU's first victory over Bradley since 2009. Eastern Illinois record improves to 2-3 on the season while Bradley falls to 1-1-2.
The Panthers offense managed six shots through the match, but it was enough to edge out the Braves. Sherali's goal came off an assist from
Edgar Mesa and
Davi Girardi. Mesa had the only other shot on goal by the Panthers.
EIU pulled of this victory behind an incredible defensive performance by the entire Panthers squad. Goalkeeper
Jonathan Burke continues his stellar senior year with another shut out, his second of the season. Burke faced a total of 19 shots and ended the game with six saves.
The Panthers look to add to the win streak as they face the Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday afternoon.
