CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's soccer scored three second half goals in a period of seven minutes as the Panthers picked up their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Chicago State.

EIU improved to 1-4 on the season while CSU fell to 0-8.

Chicago State took a 1-0 lead in the first half as Barbara Castellanos took a misplayed ball over midfield and raced towards the net. She was able to beat EIU's goalkeeper in a 1-v-1 situation to put the Cougars up in the 38th minute.

EIU applied its offensive pressure equally in both halves finishing with 18 total shots after nine attempts in each half. In the second half, the pressure paid off for the Panthers with
Nicoletta Anuci tying the match at 1-1 as she had a one touch goal to the lower right hand corner of the net following a pass from
Haylee Renick in the 62nd minute.

Four minutes later during an EIU attack in the goal box, CSU was called for a penalty providing the Panthers with a penalty kick opportunity.Â
Lexi Ketterhagen converted the PK to put EIU up 2-1 in the 66th minute.

The Panthers tacked on an insurance goal in the 69th minute as

Sarah DeWolf breaking towards the goal in the middle of the field. DeWolf would beat the Cougars keeper for the final score.

DeWolf had a team high four shots with two on goal. EIU finished with a total of nine shots on the net.
