NASHVILLE – Eastern Illinois defense helped turn away 26 shot attempts by Belmont including eight on net during Ohio Valley Conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.
In the second overtime session, the Bruins were able to finally get a shot through as Anna Brock Hawkins scored the golden goal for Belmont in the 104th minute for a 1-0 win.
EIU fell to 1-7-1 overall, 0-3-1 in the OVC. The Panthers host Jacksonville State on Friday at 3 p.m.  Belmont improved to 2-7-2 overall, 1-3 in the OVC.
The Panthers controlled possession of the ball for more than half the match despite only getting six total shots and three on goal.
