AURORA, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis won four straight points in singles play on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers rallied to beat Milwaukee 4-3.
EIU improved to 5-2 on the season while Milwaukee fell to 1-1.
Milwaukee won the doubles point picking up 6-3 wins at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Lauren Ellis and
Christine Gouws were leading their match 5-3 at No. 3 doubles when Milwaukee clinching the point leaving that match unfinished.
In singles play
Rachel Papavasilopoulos quickly evened the match at 1-1 with a two set win at No. 1 singles. She posted a 6-1, 6-2 win improving to 5-0 on the season in singles action.
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova put EIU up 2-1 in the match with her three set win at No. 4 singles. She won 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
EIU extended its lead in the match to 3-1 with Gouws two-set win at No. 2 singles. Gouws won 6-2, 7-6 winning the tie-break 9-7.
The match was clinched for EIU with
Brittany Steven winning in three sets at No. 5 singles. She posted a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.
