Eastern Illinois continues its seven-game road swing on Thursday night as the Panthers play their third straight Ohio Valley Conference game away from home. Â EIU visits Eastern Kentucky looking to snap a three-game losing skid including a pair of losses in Nashville last weekend. Â EIU enters at 7-7 overall, 0-2 in the OVC. Â EKU snapped its eight-game losing skid in the OVC opener over Tennessee Tech as the Colonels are now 4-11 overall, 1-1 in the OVC. Â
WALLACE PRODUCTION INCREASING
Josiah Wallace opened Ohio Valley Conference play with 32 points on Thursday night at Tennessee State. Â The preseason All-OVC guard followed that up with 17 points on Saturday at Belmont as he currently ranks second in the OVC in scoring in conference games. Â Wallace was EIU's leading scorer last season while ranking seventh in the OVC. Â He got off to a slow start this season being held to single digits in four of the Panthers first five games. Â Wallace has now scored in double figures in four straight games and eight of the last nine. Â He is averaging 20 points per game over the last four contests while shooting 52.8 percent from the floor and 50 percent (7-of-14) from 3-point range.
REBOUNDING LEADS TO WINS & LOSSES
Eastern Illinois lost the battle on the boards at Belmont on Saturday as the Panthers fell to 0-2 in OVC action. Â It was the seventh time this season that EIU has lost the rebounding battle and in all seven of those games EIU has suffered a loss. Â In the seven games EIU has won this season the Panthers have won the battle on the boards in all seven. Â On the year EIU holds a plus 2.9 rebounding margin with that margin increasing to plus 14.6 in Panther wins and falling to negative 8.9 in EIU losses. Â
