DEKALB, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis rallied late at Northern Illinois on Saturday evening but fell one match short in a 4-3 setback against the Huskies.
EIU is now 5-5 on the season.
NIU opened winning the doubles point clinching at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles with the No. 2 pairing left unfinished with
Christine Gouws and
Shelby Anderson knotted at 3-3 against NIU's No. 2 tandem.
The Huskies then won singles points at No. 1, No. 6 and No. 5 singles to win the necessary four points for the team decision.Â
EIU rallied to win the final three points of the day,Â
Karla Contreras moved up to win at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-2.Â
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova won at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-3.Â
Brittany Steven won the final point in a three-set win at No. 4 singles 1-6, 6-3, 10-7.
