VALPARAISO, Ind. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis played its first match in two weeks as the Panthers suffered a 5-2 loss at Valparaiso.
EIU fell to 5-6 on the season while Valpo moved to 4-4.
The Crusaders won the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.Â
Karla Contreras and
Brittany Steven were leading their match for EIU at No. 2 doubles 5-4 when Valpo clinched the point.
Valpo then moved its lead in the match to 3-0 as they picked up wins at No. 6 and No. 3 singles.
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova scored the first EIU in the match with her win at No. 4 singles. She won in three sets 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.
Valparaiso clinched the match with a three-set win at No. 2 singles as Olivia Czerwonka held off Contreras 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.Â
Rachel Papavasilopoulos added the second point of the day for EIU with a three-set win at No. 1 singles. She won over Claire Czerwonka 3-6, 7-6, 6-3.Â
Valpo took the final match of the day with a three-set win at No. 5 singles.
