CHICAGO – Eastern Illinois men's tennis opened the first of two weekend matches in the Chicagoland area with a Saturday morning loss to Green Bay. The Phoenix won 7-0
EIU fell to 7-7 on the season and will face Chicago State on Sunday. Green Bay improved to 5-6.
Green Bay won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles with the Phoenix also leading the match at No. 2 doubles when they clinched the point.
With EIU playing a shuffled line-up, Green Bay was able to win all six singles points, five of them in straight sets.
Cameron Slabbert forced his match at No. 6 singles to three sets before falling 7-5, 4-6, 10-7 to Lachlan Napier.
Daniel Hernandez slid up to play at No. 1 singles while
Christos Kyrillou moved up to No. 2 singles and
Pau Riera played at No. 3.
