Eastern Illinois returns home to host three straight home games in Lantz Arena beginning with a Thursday night game against Eastern Kentucky. EIU played back-to-back games on the road last weekend at OVC co-leaders Murray State and Austin Peay falling in close games at both schools. EIU is 11-11 overall, 4-6 in the OVC as the Panthers look to extend their home court win streak. EIU is 7-0 in Lantz Arena this year. Eastern Kentucky enters at 11-12 overall, 8-2 in the OVC.
MACK SMITH PASSES CAREER MILESTONE
Mack Smith passed a career milestone on Saturday at Austin Peay as he became the 40th player in school history to pass the 1,000 point mark for his career. Smith finished the game at Austin Peay with 13 points reaching double figures for the 54th time in his Panther career. Smith now has 1,005 career points. In the game Smith was 3-of-4 from 3-point range as he extended his NCAA leading streak of consecutive games with a made 3-pointer to 71 games. Smith's streak is currently third all-time in the NCAA Division I ranks. This season he is sixth in the OVC in 3-pointers made and ranks seventh on the EIU career list with 188.
DIXON ON THE GLASS AGAIN
George Dixon pulled down double digit rebounds for the Panthers for the third straight game as he finished with 12 boards at Austin Peay. Dixon is currently second in the OVC this season at 9.1 rebounds per game. He ranks 20th in the nation in offensive rebounds as 82 of his 200 rebounds have come on the offensive glass. Dixon pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds at Murray State last Thursday as he posted his eighth double-double of the year.
