Men's Soccer Loses 3-1 at Kansas City

Panthers fall to 1-9-1 on the season


KANSAS CITY, MO. -- Eastern Illinois Men's Soccer took a 3-1 loss on the road to the Kansas City Roos on Saturday evening.  With the loss, the Panthers drop to 1-8-1 overall and 1-3-0 in Summit League conference play on the season.

Kansas City scored their first goal when Kazuki Kimura found the back of the net in the 12th minute.  Vlad Jokic then scored in the 38th minute to give the Roos a 2-0 lead at halftime.  After Kansas City's Seth Kacich widened the gap to 3-0 in the 54th minute, Davi Girardi netted his second goal of the season in the 57th minute to cut the Roos lead to 3-1.  The Panthers, however, were unable to get any closer.

Kansas City outshot the Panthers 13-12, including an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.  The Roos also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Julian Smith led EIU in the game with three shots, while Girardi, Lenni Kirschner, and Alejandro Lurbe had two apiece for the Panthers.  Jonas Castelhano, Chad Hamler, and Gorka Delgado also each record a shot for EIU.  Girardi, Delgado, Castelhano, and Kirschner each accounted for one shot on goal for the Panthers.

Next up, the Panthers will head to Indianapolis to take on the IUPUI Jaguars on Wednesday, October 20.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3 pm.
