MACOMB, ILL. -- Eastern Illinois men's soccer lost a 1-0 contest on the road to the Western Illinois Leathernecks. With the defeat, the Panthers drop to 2-11-1 overall and 1-4-0 in Summit League Conference Play on the season.
WIU's Arian Mehrang found the back of the net in the 42nd minute, to put the Leathernecks up 1-0 at the intermission. The Panthers had their chances, but were unable to come up with the equalizer in the second half.
EIU outshot WIU 12-9, including a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal, but were unable to take advantages of their opportunities. The Panthers also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Gorka Delgado led the Panthers in shots with four and in shots on goal with two.Â
Munir Sherali and
Lenni Kirschner each had two shots for EIU, with Sherali recording a shot on goal.Â
Davi Girardi,
Brennan Rzewuski and
Jonas Castelhano also had one shot on goal each for EIU.
Next up, the Panthers will host Oral Roberts for senior day on Saturday, November 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm.
